My Story
My journey into nursing began at the age of 14, caring for my grandmother as she faced the challenges of dementia. In those quiet, intimate moments—especially during something as simple as bathing—I witnessed the fear and vulnerability that often go unspoken. The look in her eyes stayed with me, shaping not only my path, but the way I understand true, compassionate care. When she passed four years later, I knew this calling would become my life’s work.
At 19, I began my career in a skilled nursing facility, where I supported residents through daily activities and meaningful engagement. It was there I experienced the full depth of dementia—the emotional rollercoaster between the short-lived joyful moments, and the constant anxiety, confusion, and longing for connection. I learned early that presence is powerful—that music soothes, touch reassures, and compassion restores dignity.
I went on to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. My clinical background includes oncology and medical-surgical nursing, with over 17 years devoted to the geriatric population across independent living, assisted living, and memory care environments.
Dementia care remains at the heart of my work. As a Certified Dementia Care Practitioner, I am committed to delivering thoughtful, individualized care while continuing to advance my expertise as I work toward becoming an Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer.
My experience also extends into hospice care, where I have been honored to stand beside individuals and families during life’s most sacred transitions. Witnessing a final breath is a profound privilege—one that has deepened my faith, my respect for dignity, peace, and the importance of gentle presence.
Beyond my work, I am deeply grounded in family. My husband, Ulysses, is my steadfast partner and greatest support. Together, we are raising two daughters who embody compassion, strength, and purpose. I am grateful to have my parents close by whose love and presence continue to shape our lives. My twin brother, an Army veteran, exemplifies integrity and honor, and my sister remains a source of inspiration and wisdom.
My faith is strong and my heart is full! I am here to care with grace, patience, and intention—honoring each individual not only for their needs, but for their life, their story, and their legacy.
